i've been looking at subletting an apartment in weho, but it looks like it is a better deal to rent an apartment and buy cheap ikea furniture. this is what i think i'm gonna ultimately do. the cheapest sublet i found in the area is a studio for $1250 + an extra $50 for cable & internet (essential, obvs). the cheapest studio i found in the area unfurnished is $700. i'm not sure how nice that one is, but i've found others for around $875/mo that look very nice. then i'll spend about $500-600 on ikea furniture... it was sounding like a better deal, and now that it's in front of me on paper it is defs a better deal. the housing market is less competitive than nyc, so i don't have to move as quickly to find a home. my dad and i (and sister? possibly.) are driving down from portland around the 18th, and we can check out potential places when we get down there. we are taking my mom's old honda down, and then my dad (and sister?) will fly back home and leave the car with me. i was in LA for about 5 days on vacation without a car and it was not easy. although a car is expensive, i think it's the only way to make it in la. i'll keep you posted on that one.
that is where i'm at. i'm definitely going to get a place of my own (it's more fun to decorate my own place anyway!), sublets are a rip off, i think i need a car, and the snow is killing me. i hope all is well with you guys. oh and a couple people have been giving me a hard time that i don't update enough (or at all). have no fear - as soon as i'm actually another la actress, i will be blogging up a small storm. for right now, i'm just another girl in portland - and that's nothing to blog about. xxx
